Let's go procedural
A personal Houdini project, kept entirely procedural. The city is generated through stacked procedural maps, with color assigned to the tallest elements. The biggest challenge was the traffic system, built in VEX. The solution was a dynamic point grouping system where point leaders are created on the fly based on stopping signals.

The traffic system behind the project. Points travel in straight lines and stop at red signals. Based on timing, groups form dynamically, each with its own leader. As traffic conditions change, groups can split and recombine.

And because it always looks better in motion
Scale is everything here. Small point animations weaving through a gigantic city. The contrast between the two is what makes it work.
